The band, initially known as "Koola Lobitos", then "Nigeria 70", and later "Africa 70" before taking on the moniker Egypt 80, is a renowned Nigerian afrobeat band which was originally founded by Fela Kuti, the pioneer of afrobeat, in 1979.
